Dumfries Addresses Long Negotiation Before His Renewal

Denzel Dumfries has commented on his recent contract extension, which seemingly took forever but had a positive outcome. The fullback obtained the pay bump he was looking for, but there’s no release clause in it. Instead, Inter will have the option to rescind it one year before its conclusion by paying a small penalty, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs (via Tuttomercatoweb).

“It took a long time. Naturally, we had to wait for the new ownership to be in charge. We negotiated at length, but I’m proud and happy about the result. It wasn’t easy for them and me. The situation made things hard, and the talks lasted longer than usual. In the end, without beating it around the bush, it was also a matter of money. I’m 28, and this is an important moment for me. The team has always been good to me. Ultimately, we are both very satisfied. I’m having a lot of fun. My intention is to stay until 2028.”
