Paulo Dybala is confident he’ll start the pre-season in the ‘best possible way’ once he recovers from an injury, says the Friedkins were the first ones to support him and believes they’ll pick the ‘best coach’ for Roma.
The Argentine forward underwent tendon surgery at the end of March, meaning he would not return to action before the end of the current campaign.
“The truth is that staying out is bad. Being close to the pitch but unable to do anything isn’t nice,” La Joya told Sport Mediaset.
“One always wants to help the coach and the team and contribute. Unfortunately, I know I’ll be out for a while and am working to return as soon as possible. Time will help me to start the pre-season in the best possible way.”
Dybala was grateful for the support he received from the club and his teammates after sustaining an injury in a home game against Cagliari last month.
“The Friedkins were the first ones to support me and find the best solution for this injury,” he said.

“There were several options, but the one we chose was the best one for my recovery and to avoid new issues. Now, I try to stay as close as possible to the team and help my teammates in any way I can, even staying on the bench if the coach lets me.”
Dybala already sat on the bench in the latest matches against Juventus and Lazio, but he regrets that he suffered his latest injury at the best moment of the season.
“I was in a positive moment. I had good feelings and felt strong,” he admitted.
“Then this happened, but it has happened already a couple of times in my career, and I am ready to recover physically and mentally. Staying close to the team during the training sessions helps me. Obviously, I have time now, and I try to tune out so I don’t think about what happened and recover as soon as possible.”
Coach Claudio Ranieri is under contract until the end of the season and will contribute to identifying a new manager for Roma in 2025-26.
“I think the club, the coach and the director will pick the best coach for Roma,” Dybala concluded.
“The President has the final say. They’ll select the best option for us. We all hope to see Roma in the Champions League, which is what we deserve, and I am sure the lads will give more than their all to reach this target.”
