AC Milan have made a habit of turning towards Real Madrid when they are in need of reinforcements, and Raul Asencio has emerged as an option.
Asencio’s emergence as a first team regular has been somewhat of a surprise for Real Madrid under Carlo Ancelotti, with the central defender making the step up well having racked up 30 appearances for the senior side.
The 22-year-old’s form earned him a Spain call-up for the March internationals but it has also attracted interest from clubs across Europe, who are seeing that he has less than 18 months left on his currently contract.
Edu Aguirre told El Chiringuito TV that Liverpool and Milan are also showing an interest in signing him and they are hoping that he decides against extending his current deal with Los Blancos, so they have more leverage in negotiations.
Milan are on good terms with Real Madrid, as the recent Brahim Diaz and Alex Jimenez deals show. Speaking of Jimenez, the Rossoneri are planning to speak with the LaLiga giants about his future given they possess a buy-back clause for the next two summers.
It cannot be ruled out that Asencio’s name emerges in these talks, especially given that reports have suggested only Matteo Gabbia has a certain place in the central defensive department going into the 2025-26 season.
