We took a look at some of the transfers that Swansea City should make in the January transfer window
The January transfer window is less than a month away, and Swansea City will be bracing themselves for an important month which could shape their 2024/25 season.
The Swans have had a decent opening couple of months and sit in mid-table, but Luke Williams will feel his side should be higher in the Championship table after coming away from a number of games empty-handed, perhaps undeservedly.
Swansea haven't lost a Championship game by more than one goal, showing that they're a competitive side, and good January business could propel them to new heights. With that in mind, here are the transfers they should make next month.
Frenchman Elie Youan probably won't be a familiar name to Swansea City supporters, but he's making waves in Scotland with Hibernian.
The 25-year-old winger hasn't had the best of seasons to date in the Scottish Premiership after suffering an injury at the beginning of the campaign, but he impressed last year, scoring ten goals and registering 10 assists in 43 appearances.
This is a very decent return, and Swansea could do with that sort of goal contribution from their wingers, with Williams' side struggling for goals until recently.
Swansea don't have the money to go out and buy ready-made Championship quality, but Youan looks like he could get to grips with the Championship, and at 25 he's got plenty of time to improve too.
His contract is up with Hibs in the summer of 2026, and he could be a shrewd signing in a position of need for Swansea given Josh Ginnelly's long-term absence and uncertainty about when he'll return to the fold.
Someone who will be a familiar name to the Jack Army is Swedish attacker Noel Milleskog, who has been linked with the Swans on a number of occasions.
The IK Sirius man first appeared on Swansea's radar in the summer, but a move didn't materialise for the 22-year-old, and he remained in his homeland.
However, reports from Sweden resurfaced in October suggesting that Swansea were lining up a January move for Milleskog, and supporters will be hoping that they're able to get a deal over the line this time.
The former Sweden youth international can play in a range of attacking positions from winger, attacking midfielder or a striker, and that sort of versatility will benefit Swansea and their small squad.
With a number of goals and assists this season, he could be someone that fills the void of Jamie Paterson and adds a creative spark to Swansea's attack.
Danish international Kristian Pedersen joined Swansea in the summer of 2023 and has endured a tough time in south Wales.
He was loaned out to Sheffield Wednesday after playing just five games for Swansea during the 2023/24 campaign, and he's struggled for games yet again this season.
Admittedly, the 30-year-old has struggled with injuries this season, but it's hard to see where the former Birmingham City man features unless Swansea suffer a number of injuries to defenders.
Crucially, Pedersen is out of contract at the end of the season, and as one of Swansea City's highest earners (as per Capology) surely the club will be keen to offload him in January to free up some money and to allow the 30-year-old to play regular football.
Another one of Swansea's signings from the controversial summer transfer window of 2023 which attracted huge criticism from supporters, Nathan Tjoe-A-On has struggled for game time in SA1.
The Indonesian international didn't play a single game for Swansea last season and has struggled for minutes yet again this season, with the 22-year-old being way down Williams' pecking order.
It gives Swansea a January dilemma as he's still young, was previously a first-team regular in the Eredivisie and is idolised on the international stage with Indonesia, so he's clearly got something about him, but he's not shown it with the Swans.
He's contracted to Swansea until summer 2026, so it remains to be seen whether he'll be offloaded on a permanent basis in January, but it would be a surprise if he didn't leave the club in January, whether that be on loan or permanently.
