AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan is one of the best in the world in his position, and there have been long been rumours that Chelsea are interested in signing him.
They’ve surfaced again recently, with things gradually falling into place to make it more likely.
After a long and successful stay in Italy, there’s a sense that the whole Milan project needs to be blown up and started again. They risk missing out on the Champions League, and they feel a long way from any trophies.
Maignan meanwhile should be at his peak, and playing for a real contender.
Milan Live say that Chelsea are keen on signing him and are taking decisive steps towards doing just that. They’ve already made initial contact with Milan, and apparently found out that the France keeper would be available for a fee of around €40m.
That is a steal for a player of that quality. Not only is he very good, he’s also got tons of experience and could really bring a huge boost to the dressing room.
Don’t believe us? Check out what Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson said:
“He is physical, quick, he has clean technique. He is very strong. He is one of the best in the world. The quality of goalkeepers has really increased – Mike Maignan is within this elite [group],” said the Liverpool goalkeeper.

While signing Maignan violates some of the self imposed rules our sporting directors work according to, it’s such an exceptional position and a good opportunity that it would surely be worth it.
Bringing in a player that good in a position we’ve struggled with would lift the whole group and would surely be worth a good few points every season.
