England Women vs Belgium Women: Preview, predictions and lineups

England continue their UEFA Women's Nations League campaign on Friday evening when they host Belgium at Ashton Gate.

The Lionesses currently sit level with Portugal at the top of Group 3 after claiming a significant 1-0 victory over world champions Spain at the end of February. Having already drawn with Portugal on matchday one, England avenged 2023's World Cup final defeat courtesy of a single Jess Park strike.

Meanwhile, Belgium sit bottom of the standings after successive defeats, with narrow losses to Spain and Portugal leaving them in a tricky position. They will be desperate to upset the odds in Bristol this week and can take solace from beating England during their previous Nations League campaign.

Sarina Wiegman has welcomed Beth Mead and Fran Kirby back into the England squad after injuries prevented them from joining up with the national team in February. Manchester City goalkeeper Khiara Keating also makes her comeback.

Maisie Symonds has earned a first senior call-up having impressed with Brighton & Hove Albion and England's Under-23s and is joined by a band of familiar faces.

Symonds will rub shoulders with the likes of Park, Keira Walsh and Ella Toone in midfield, while Lauren James, Alessia Russo and Chloe Kelly have all been included in the final third. Chelsea trio Millie Bright, Lucy Bronze and Niamh Charles are unsurprising inclusions and could all start.

England predicted lineup vs Belgium (4-3-3): Earps; Bronze, Williamson, Bright, Charles; Clinton, Walsh, Toone; Kelly, Russo, James.

Anderlecht's Laura de Neve was initially called up to Elisabet Gunnarsdottir but the centre-back has since been replaced Jasmien Mathys due to injury.

Leicester City duo Janice Cayman and Sari Kees are both included, the former enjoying a particularly impressive campaign in the East Midlands, while West Ham United's Amber Tysiak and Everton's Justine Vanhaevermaet are other Women's Super League representatives.

Belgium will lean on the goalscoring prowess of Inter veteran Tessa Wullaert on Friday. She scored her 88th international goal against Spain in February and a brace the last time she played England.

Belgium predicted lineup vs England (4-3-3): Evrard; Janssens, Tysiak, Kees, Cayman; Abdulai, Vanhaevermaet, Missipo; Janssen, Wullaert, Eurlings.

England vs Belgium score prediction

England will be strong favourites for Friday's clash but their recent outings against Belgium suggest this could be a tighter affair than many expect. A narrow 1-0 victory and 3-2 defeat in the previous Nations League campaign shows the Lionesses can't afford any complacency at Ashton Gate.

However, Wiegman's side will be flying high after their impressive victory over Spain last time out and should have far too much firepower for Belgium on this occasion.
