Chelsea are finally back in action on Thursday night after almost 3 weeks without a game, and it can’t come soon enough.
While it’s been a painfully long spell without a game for fans, that does have some advantages for players. Chelsea had been without a few crucial players for the last couple of months, and this break hopefully has maximised their chances of returning.
Nicolas Jackson, Noni Madueke and Cole Palmer were all out of action when we faced Arsenal two weeks ago in our last match, and all 3 are expected to be fit for the game against Spurs later this week. Romeo Lavia should also be fully match fit after his latest absence.
This not only means they are going to be able to play, it should also mean their teammates can be put back in their best positions. Pedro Neto can stop filling in for Jackson up front, Enzo Fernandez should be able to get into positions where he does most damage, Christopher Nkunku can go back to the bench, etc. etc.

Palmer and Jackson’s attacking chemistry has been seriously missed while one or both are out – that will be a huge boost to the team.
Enzo Maresca will have a wealth of options available to him, it’s just a question of how he uses them. It’s been a while since he had so many options at his disposal – there can be no excuses as we look to win. Jackson, Palmer and Madueke are our biggest sources of goals, and their return should prompt a return to some exciting attacking play at last after a dire couple of months watching a toothless team really struggle.
