Erik ten Hag continues to maintain relationship sith Borussia Dortmund | OneFootball

Sky Germany reports that Erik ten Hag was spotted at Borussia Dortmund’s 3-2 loss to Bayer Leverkusen on Friday evening.

The former Manchester United manager has been a regular visitor to the Signal Iduna Park since his firing at Old Trafford earlier this season. ten Hag maintains a good relationship with Matthias Sammer who he worked with when both were at Bayern Munich. Sammer even wanted ten Hag to become Germany under-21 manager at one point.

This does not mean that Nuri Şahin’s job is in doubt. The former midfielder maintains the full support of the hierarchy despite the club currently sitting in eighth in the Bundesliga.

Şahin’s job will only come into question if Champions League qualification is in doubt. Then ten Hag will become a serious option for die Schwarzgelben.

The former Dortmund midfielder has had a tough time in his first six months in charge. Recent injury crises have not helped, but Dortmund are looking to try and alleviate this issue in the transfer market. However, if there are not improvements in the second half of the season, things will need to be addressed as Dortmund will continue to lose ground on Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen and even RB Leipzig.
