Espanyol head coach Manolo González has this week provided a fresh insight into his hopes when it comes to Javi Puado;s future with the club.
The subject of frontman Puado’s expiring terms have of course long positioned themselves front and centre in the headlines in Barcelona.
This comes with Espanyol’s captain due to see his contract run out in the summer of 2025.
The brass at Stage Front Stadium have long been hard at work behind the scenes to find an agreement over an extension, but, to date, Puado has showcased little intent when it comes to the possibility of signing as much.
Amid interest in his services from across the La Liga landscape, the subject of his contract situation was, in turn, this week put to manager Manolo González once more.
And, speaking during an interview with Pericos en Radio Marca, as cited by Mundo Deportivo, Espanyol’s headmaster made use of the opportunity to lavish praise on Puado:
“Puado has always been a differential player; he’s a terrific player, an ideal second striker.”
Honing in specifically on the attacker’s future beyond the summer, González continued:
“I hope Javi Puado stays at Espanyol for a long time. The club is doing everything it can to keep him, but there’s also a project issue.”
