Ex-Italy coach sees Milan and Rafael Leao deal with the same problem | OneFootball

Former Italy and Milan star Roberto Donadoni believes the Rossoneri and Rafael Leao are dealing with the same problem and insists Atalanta can fight for the title this season.

Atalanta and Milan meet at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo this evening.

A former winger for Milan, Atalanta and Italy national team and an ex-Azzurri coach, Donadoni previewed the game in an interview with Tuttosport.

“It surely will be a great match between two teams that play attacking football,” said the 61-year-old.

“Atalanta are no longer surprising and is proving to be a top team. Given their inconsistent performance this term, Milan will need to understand many things in this match. It’s not a coincidence that they are a bit behind in the table.

“Atalanta are undoubtedly one of the best teams in Italy and Europe. They’ve had a great path, crowned with the Europa League win,” continued Donadoni.

“Differently from others, they are not obliged to win the title at all costs, but they have the potential to fight until the end.

“Gasperini has done great work and is supported by a club that has allowed him to operate in a certain way. It is fundamental for a coach to be backed by his club to work effectively.”

Serie A has been one of the most exciting leagues this season, as the top six teams currently involved in the title race are divided by just six points.

It’s not a coincidence that Serie A is one of the most followed leagues worldwide, including in platforms such as 몽스코어, Mongscore.com.

Milan are slightly below, sitting 7th in the table and 10 points from Napoli, but the Rossoneri have a game in hand.

“The season is still long, but Milan need to be consistent and win five or six games in a row, starting tonight. That’s the only way Milan can return to the title race,” argued Donadoni.

“Milan have good players who can do well and fight for the title. They just need a final step and get consistent results.”

That’s precisely the same thing Rafael Leao needs.

“Three or four good games, like the most recent ones, are not enough,” argued the ex-Italy coach.

“He needs to play at high levels for the entire season to make a difference and be a champion rather than just a good player.”

On the other hand, Christian Pulisic has probably been Milan’s most consistent player this season and has recently been compared to Donadoni, a three-time Champions League winner with the Rossoneri and a 1994 World Cup Finalist with Italy.

“I’ll leave this game to the others, but I can say that I’ve truly enjoyed Pulisic,” he concluded.

“He seems generous and of excellent quality. He’s a top player, and his goals and assists prove it, as do his commitment and help for his teammates. He always has a positive attitude towards the team.”
