Boro are battling for the play-offs again this season under Michael Carrick but Jones has fallen down the pecking order.

The 25-year-old has started just one game since September and only featured in three of the Teessiders' last eight games.

Jones' lightning speed and direct running have seen him flourish on the right flank in past seasons. He broke through as a winger under Neil Warnock at the start of 2021/22 but really caught the eye as a marauding wing-back once Chris Wilder had taken charge, finishing the campaign with a goal and nine assists to his name.

Carrick has mostly used him in a more attacking role, which has seen the Guyana international return 12 goals and 10 assists over the past two seasons.

Jones began the current campaign as a regular fixture on the right, starting Boro's first six Championship games, but has fallen down the pecking order – due in no small part to the eye-catching form of Liverpool loanee Ben Doak.

With the January window fast approaching, FLW can exclusively reveal that the 25-year-old is looking to move on from the Riverside this winter.

FLW understands that there is interest in the 25-year-old, who has proven his quality in the Championship over the past few years.

Middlesbrough recently handed the 25-year-old a new three-year deal

The wide player put pen to paper on a new three-year extension at Boro back in April, which is due to keep him under contract until the summer of 2027.

That deal means that the Teessiders will be in a strong negotiating position should interested parties make a move next month.

Jones joined Boro from non-league side Tooting & Mitcham in the summer of 2019 but it now seems his future could be away from the North East club.

Isaiah Jones has had Premier League and Championship interest in the past

Premier League teams have shown an interest in the past. In 2022, FLW revealed that Crystal Palace and West Ham United were tracking Jones after his emergence at Boro but a move never materialised – with the Hammers moving onto other targets as a result of the Championship club's firm no-sale stance.

The following year, the Teessiders' approach changed ahead of the summer transfer window. They were open to cashing in on Jones, who now had top-flight interest from Bournemouth, Palace and West Ham, while Millwall, Norwich City, and Sunderland were also keen.

The London-born wide player was understood, at that time, to be likely to move back down south but remained at the Riverside with Boro.
