West Ham United are understood to be making Lyon forward Georges Mikautadze one of their top transfer targets in attack this summer.

Sources close to the situation have informed CaughtOffside that the Hammers are really keen to bring Mikautadze in to the London Stadium, though they could face competition for his signature.

The Georgia international is also attracting interest from Crystal Palace and Wolves, and the sense is that he’d be open to a move to a Premier League club.

In particular, however, CaughtOffside understands that Mikautadze is aware of West Ham’s interest and enthusiastic about the prospect of joining the club to play alongside the likes of Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen.

Graham Potter will likely be given the resources to make changes to this struggling squad this summer, so this looks like one to watch.

Mikautadze looks like he could be a fine signing for a number of Premier League clubs after his impressive recent form in Ligue 1.

The 24-year-old has a total of 24 goals and nine assists in all competitions for club and country this season, and it will be interesting to see if he can replicate that kind of form in England.

West Ham have had some bad luck with striker signings in recent times, but this looks like a deal that could work well for them.

Palace and Wolves might also be tempting destinations for Mikautadze, however, while one imagines we could see even bigger clubs targeting him before too long.

For now, though, a stepping stone move to a mid-table side like one of the aforementioned seems like it makes the most sense for Mikautadze in the next phase of his career.
