The last night was a special one for FC Barcelona as they won their first trophy under Hansi Flick. This win was made even special by the fact that this trophy came with a splendid 5-2 victory over their heated rivals, Real Madrid.

While the team and its fans will be euphoric with this latest victory, the decision-makers at the Catalan club can still not get too drowned in this delight and will have to ensure they continue focusing on the immediate issues that need addressing.

One such issue that the Blaugranes are facing is that of Ronald Araujo’s future, as the defender has still not renewed his contract that ends in 2026 and has been linked with Juventus very strongly in the last few days.

As Mundo Deportivo has noted, the Uruguayan defender gave mixed signals regarding his future while celebrating his team’s win last night.

The center-back did not clearly address the uncertainty surrounding his future and the only public reaction he gave was a tweet in which he referred to Barcelona as a “superchampion”. However, he was also clearly euphoric with the way he celebrated the win.

The report mentions that this week is going to be crucial in regards to his future, and nothing is clear or certain for now.

He was already doubtful about his continuity because of the Blaugrana club’s financial condition, while his importance in the team has also declined and Iñigo Martínez and Pau Cubarsí are clear starters for Flick.

While Martínez’s injury last night can result in him getting more chances in the short term, Jonathan Tah’s possible signing is also a matter of concern for him in the long term.

In such a context, the player himself or his agents will talk with Deco this week to clarify his situation going forward and to make a final decision on his departure or continuity.
