An insight into the reasoning behind the hesitance of the brass at Real Madrid to bring back legendary defender Sergio Ramos has on Saturday been provided.
The name of Spanish veteran Ramos has of course been a prominent one in the headlines in Spain’s capital over recent weeks.
This comes after speculation spread in the media that Florentino Pérez and co. were considering launching a move for the club’s one-time stalwart.
Carlo Ancelotti’s squad is in the midst of an injury crisis at present, with the heart of defence having been hit particularly hard.
Ramos, available as a free agent, would in turn be available to join outside of the transfer window, and without a fee attached.
It has as a result come as something of a surprise to those of a Real persuasion to hear that many behind the scenes at the Santiago Bernabéu are opposed to the prospect of a reunion with the 38-year-old.
As alluded to above, though, this weekend, an insight into the reasoning for as much has been provided.
The info comes courtesy of The Athletic’s Guillermo Rai, who points towards Ramos’ strong personality as a leading factor:
‘The former captain is not viewed as necessarily the right fit for this dressing room. Ramos is certainly a vocal senior player — which Madrid clearly lack — but sources suggest that dropping in such a strong personality could upset the squad dynamic.’
