With Fantasy Premier League entering the run-in, there are a bunch of blank and double gameweeks to navigate, so we’ve devised the best chip strategies to help you excel.
We know for a fact that Newcastle United and Crystal Palace play twice in GW32, while Arsenal, Aston Villa, Manchester City and Palace have two fixtures in GW33. Those same four clubs will blank in GW34, and there is likely to be more doubles in GW36, although that will only be confirmed after the FA Cup semi-finals.
If you have all of your chips remaining, you need to start using them right away or else you risk wasting them. There are five chips and only eight gameweeks remaining, and because the Assistant Manager (AM) runs for three weeks – during which time you can’t activate another chip – it really is now or never.
I have drawn up four different chip strategies you can employ for the rest of the season, two without the Assistant Manager and two with it, so you can make the most of your Wildcard (WC), Triple Captain (TC), Bench Boost (BB) and Free Hit (FH). Good luck!

A lot of managers would have activated their second WC in GW30, but for those who held on I think this week makes the most sense to use it. You can load up on players who are doubling in GW33 when you can maximise your returns from the BB. The four teams you will be loading up on will blank the following gameweek, so that’s the perfect time to use the FH.
If you somehow still have your TC chip, then Alexander Isak in GW32 is the most sensible option between now and the end of the season.
If you used your FH in blank GW29, then adjust your transfers to make sure you’re covered for both GW33 and GW34. It may even be more helpful to use your BB in GW32 instead, which brings us on to the next strategy.
Again, wildcarding in GW31 will set you up nicely for the blanks and doubles. You can load up on doublers and the best single gameweekers for GW32 to make bench boosting viable, and ensure you have enough players who will play in blank GW34.
Activating the FH in GW33 means you can choose from all of the best picks who have two fixtures. TC chip can be used for the double in GW36, although there may not be an amazing pool of players from which to choose.
It makes a lot of sense to bring in an AM this week ahead of the upcoming doubles. Newcastle United face Leicester this weekend before taking on Man Utd and Crystal Palace in GW32, making Eddie Howe a strong pick. You can then transfer him out for Oliver Glasner, who has games against both Bournemouth and Arsenal in GW33.
As already noted, free hitting in blank GW34 makes sense. You can then potentially use the WC, if you have it, in GW35 to set up for the doubles in GW36. Alternatively, you can use the TC that week.
Once again, wildcarding in GW31 allows you to stack up on doublers for the following two weeks and get the most out of a BB in GW33. You can cover the blanks in GW34 with the FH, before activating the AM at the backend of the season.
