“Celtic and Rangers are big clubs with big fan bases, big emotion, big responsibilities and big expectations. Why not?” Mourinho said at today’s media conference. Celtic he noted has a “fantastic coach” in Brendan while theRangers have…(wait for it)….FERGUSON.” Brilliant from The Special One!

Jose Mourinho aka The Special One himself has made a few headlines north of the border today after his pre-match Media Conference in preparation for his Fenerbahce side’s clash with theRangers in the Europa League.
The bold Jose was as straight to the point as usual when asked if he ever see himself managing in Scotland one day, by stating not at the moment as he’s at a job that motivates him and demands loyalty.
He went on to mutter the usual patronising stuff spouted by the elite of our game about our league being dominated by only two teams, teams that are passionate about winning, big fan bases and a winning mentality, you know the usual stuff. He then added that he wouldn’t rule out a move to either club after his contract with Fenerbahce runs out in the summer of 2026.

The truth is that Jose was just trying to be respectful and wouldn’t touch either side with a bargepole due to the finances and spending power he’d get elsewhere. Jose is an elite level manager, one of the best ever, and his next move is likely to be the EPL or the Portuguese national side, or more likely a cash-rich Gulf State like Saudi Arabia.

It ain’t going to be Glasgow that’s for sure. Although we as Celtic supporters are sensible enough to acknowledge that. Besides as Jose said himself Celtic already has a top class coach in Brendan while theRangers have….’Ferguson’. A nice little put down for wee Barry who defends his 100% away win record tomorrow night in Istanbul.
I can’t say the same for the other side of Glasgow though. Jose’s words will have gave the hacks and the deluded Bears all the encouragement they need to have him firmly installed as the number one target for the proposed new owners this summer.

The fact that he’s on about £200,000 a week not to mention under contract meaning forking out many millions in compensation to Fenerbahce makes it nigh on impossible. Although that sadly won’t deter them from believing otherwise.
The only time he’ll be heading to Ibrox will be for the second leg next Thursday with his Fenerbahce side looking to secure their place in the last eight of the Europa League. Best of luck to them too.
