Feyenoord’s Hancko expected to submit transfer request

Highly-scouted Feyenoord centre-back Dávid Hancko may submit a transfer request, according to Italian La Gazzetta Dello Sport (via Voetbal Primeur). The defender is reportedly determined to make the switch to Juventus in the winter window instead of a previously planned summer move.

Where Juventus initially wanted said summer transfer, they are now determined to lure Hancko to Turin in January. The Feyenoord player himself reportedly also prefers to move before then and will likely ask Feyenoord to cooperate with a transfer.

At the moment, Hancko is reportedly still focusing on the upcoming match against PSV. However, after this, a conversation with Brian Priske and the management team seems unavoidable.

Juventus are currently waiting for the green light from Hancko to open negotiations with Feyenoord. According to the Italian paper, the Slovakian should cost around thirty million euros. That may be an obstacle for the Old Lady, who will try to sell players to finance his arrival.

Already, Nicolò Fagioli and Douglas Luiz have been considered for departure. Another possibility would be a loan transfer, with a high loan fee and a (possibly mandatory) option to buy. Facundo Gonzalez could also possibly play a role in the transfer. The Uruguayan has been loaned to Feyenoord from Juventus, with the aim of preparing him to succeed Hancko.

Dennis te Kloese already indicated in an interview with RTV Rijnmond that he sees a summer transfer as a better option. “A winter transfer period is different from a summer one. Then it is often better for a player to transfer. Then the family can also transfer, there is time to adjust, because that is often not even given anymore.

“In the winter it is often a panic action from a club. Or a transfer to replace an injured player. These are different arguments to get a player, you have to be careful with that.”
