First two of Premier League Big Six toppling from their pedestals – Now looks nailed on

I said that the cosy cartel (‘Premier League Big Six’) would soon be broken up just after the Newcastle United takeover.

At the time, I was also taking into account Aston Villa’s relatively new wealthy and ambitious owners.

Newcastle United achieved Champions League football by finishing 4th in the EPL in 2023. Villa replicated this feat last season.

Newcastle put in an exasperatingly awful performance against Bournemouth at St James’ Park at the weekend.

However, I quickly put it behind me, consoling myself that we had just had a bad day at the office and lost to a superior side on the day.

Around 24 hours later, I had the pleasure of listening to Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur both being well beaten, yet again.

The first two Septic Six (‘Premier League Big Six’) sides to fall from grace, topple from their pedestals, now look nailed on.

‘Yanited’ couldn’t follow up their flukey win over Southampton at Old Trafford with another victory at home against South Coast opponents. Brighton and Hove Albion apparently gave them an absolute footballing lesson from the snippets I later saw in the highlights.

The Red Devils rookie manager Ruben Amorim then came out and said that this was the worst Man U team in history. Special mention must also be given to their calamity keeper who it looks like they found in a Cracker Jack box.

Spurs trailed Everton 3-0 at half-time at Goodison and the scouse mackems in the stands had finally been awoken after seeing a player in a blue shirt actually score.

The North London side did pull a couple of goals back in the second half but it was a case of too little too late and won’t save their stubborn and naive boss Ange Postecoglu.

Man Utd and Spurs are rooted in the lower half of the EPL with no chance of European football next season unless they win one of the remaining cup competitions they are still in.

These two are on a massive downward trajectory. I would go as far as to say that Man U are in total disarray both on and off the pitch, and ending up in financial dire straits isn’t out of the question.

Back to the top of the table and the title is now Luckypool’s to throw away. The red scousers secured another win at Brentford with both goals coming in added time.

Arteta’s “title contenders” Arsenal squandered a 2-0 home advantage to Villa (the Gunners have as much chance of winning the EPL as I have of getting bit off a giraffe in a confined space).

Forest won again but basement club Southampton gave them a scare in the second half at the City Ground.

And finally Pep’s Man City overran hapless Ipswich 6-0 at Portman Road.
