After Fluminense shocked many by winning the Taça Guanabara outright, many predicted Flamengo would exact revenge on their rivals in the Campeonato Carioca final.
However, more shocks would come as a late two-minute brace from Germán Cano near the full-time whistle gave the Tricolor Flu Fluzão a 2-0 win in the first leg.
Scorers: Cano 83′, 85′
Cano’s first goal would come after Léo Pereira, who had just entered the match, made a terrible defensive error, being dispossessed as the last defender and allowing the Fluminense attack to strike.
Less than two minutes later, Flamengo’s attempts to launch an all-out attack blew up in their faces, giving Cano the opportunity to score a second time after a two-on-one breakaway.
The two sides will go back to the Maracanã on Saturday to see who will lift the trophy.
