Focus now on bouncing back against Hearts on Saturday

A week has now passed since the 3-2 defeat to theRangers at Celtic Park. Disastrous is too strong a word, but we were admittedly terribly poor on the day and couldn’t have too many complaints about the final result. For me personally I let the result slowly digest and I’m now firmly over it, with my aim now solely focused on bouncing back when we face Hearts this coming Saturday afternoon.

Some however can’t get the Derby defeat out of their heads and have let themselves believe that the loss has all of a sudden made us a poor side. That is complete nonsense. Yes we were certainly below par on Sunday, and more than a few players let themselves and the supporters down with their attitude and commitment on the day.

“But it happens. That’s football, results and performances like that can happen over the course of a campaign. It’s the season as a whole that reflects on the ability commitment and desire of the players, and paints a much truer picture. The table never lies.

Celtic this morning sit 13 points clear at the top of the standings, the League Cup in the bag, a Scottish cup semi-final looming. A decent showing in the Champions League, with an impressive 130 goals scored in all competitions, 89 in the Scottish Premiership, thus far as we close in on a clean sweep of honours.

That is not only a true reflection of our ability, but it ultimately proves that we are a terrific footballing side. You can’t argue with the stats of the standings in the table or indeed the name on the League Cup. Form is temporary, class is permanent as they say.

Brendan Rodgers will be hurting

Brendan Rodgers will be hurting as much as any other supporter and will be talking to his players about getting the title won as quickly as possible and finishing the season off in some style with two additional wins at Hampden.
