Former AZ Alkmaar stalwart Jesper Karlsson has signed for Lecce on loan from Bologna for the rest of the season. The winger left the Netherlands for Bologna in the summer of 2023 for more than eleven million euros.
Since then, he has played 14 league matches for the club – yet has only managed to score once. Joining 17th-placed Lecce, Karlsson has the chance to get plenty of matches in the second half of the Serie A season, with I Giallorossi trying to beat the drop to Serie B.
Ajax were recently linked with the agile wideman. However, the Amsterdammers have instead shifted their focus to signing Raul Moro. According to sources around the club, they hope to loan the 22-year-old in from Real Valladolid.
For Karlsson, he could find himself involved straight away following his medical. Lecce’s next game is an important home clash with Genoa. The Swede’s new side are just three points behind the Red and Blues.
