A former member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona is keen on a return to the club down the line.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards João Cancelo as the player in question.
Full-back Cancelo for his part of course spent last season plying his trade in Catalunya’s capital.
After being granted a fresh loan departure from Manchester City, the Portuguese did everything in his power to ensure that his landing spot came in the form of Barcelona.
Cancelo, in turn, went on to play a leading role for the Blaugrana, proving himself an integral figure in then-boss Xavi’s backline.
And though Deco and co. did their utmost to make the transfer a permanent one over the summer, as much, owing chiefly to financial complications, proved impossible.
The 30-year-old therefore took his talents to the Saudi Pro League, to line out for Al-Hilal.
As alluded to above, however, if Cancelo has his way, at some point down the line, he will pull on the famed Barca colours once more.
As per a report from Sport:
‘The Portuguese would like to return and is winking at his teammates. The full-back would be willing to do anything to return, aware that Barça is the best ecosystem to bring out his best football.’
Despite as much, and Barcelona actively seeking out reinforcements at full-back for next season, a deal actually being struck is seen as highly unlikely.
