Genk ran out 2-0 winners away to Union St Gilloise thanks to their new striker Andi Zeqiri. The former Brighton forward scored after just 17 minutes, tapping in after some fine work from Ghanaian winger Joseph Paintsil. Zeqiri was replaced in the 79th minute by Tolu Arokodare, who went on to provide the assist for the sides 93rd minute winner from Matias Galarza.
This was Genk’s third win of the season following wins against Cercle Brugge and RWDM. All three of their games came away from home, while at home they have drawn two and lost one, which came against relegation favourites Eupen. The side that narrowly missed out on the title last year have now moved back into the top six.
Zeqiri joined from Brighton on deadline day, having spent the previous two seasons on loan at Augsburg and Basel. The Swiss forward only scored once in 13 appearances for the Sussex based side.
