Ex-Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has been out injured for Southampton’s last five matches with a finger issue, and his team have struggled without him.
Conceding three times to Liverpool, five times to Chelsea, and another five times to Tottenham Hotspur, Southampton have been in dire form, to the extent that they sacked their manager at the weekend.
Interim boss Simon Rusk will have his fingers crossed that Ramsdale’s return can help a bit with their defensive issues.

“The finger is getting more bendy, it’s getting there,” Ramsdale said ahead of the Liverpool game.
“It was too soon for [the Spurs] game. We have two games that I’m hoping to be involved in.
“We’ve got a big game and one we can try to get into the semi-final of the cup on Wednesday.”

Facing a Liverpool side flying high in the Premier League, Champions League, and the League Cup isn’t going to be easy for a Southampton side right at the other end of the table.
One small positive is that the Saints are at home to Liverpool, and they’ll hope their fans and the change in manager can give the team a bit of a lift.
Ramsdale’s return should help too, though even he only kept one clean sheet in his first 10 appearances following his move from Arsenal. It hasn’t been a good season for his new side, and they need a spark to turn things around.
