The club could officially announce the new deal on Thursday.

Diallo’s contract was due to expire next summer, but United have taken an active step to extend his stay at the club.

He joined Man United from Atalanta in 2021. He was sent on loan to Rangers and Sunderland for more game time before making a headway last season.

Diallo joined Rangers on loan in January 2022 for the rest of the season. The versatile forward made 13 appearances and bagged three goals for the club.

He went on loan to Sunderland in August 2022. He featured in 42 games across all competitions, registering 14 goals and four assists.

Diallo won the club’s Young Player of the Year and the PFA Championship Fans’ Player of the Year.

Man United gave him a chance to impress last season, but injuries hampered him. He could only make his first appearance in a 2-1 loss to Nottingham Forest in December.

He did not get enough game time afterwards but grabbed the headlines in the FA Cup quarter-final victory over Liverpool, scoring the winning goal in the clash.

Diallo has now established himself as one of the key players at the club this season, notching six goals and seven assists in all competitions.

The 22-year-old has registered the most goals and assists in the Premier League alongside captain Bruno Fernandes.

Diallo received United’s December 2024 Player of the Month award. He is the only player to have won the prize twice this term.

The Red Devils have not had a good history with players after giving them a new contract, with Marcus Rashford being the latest example.

They will be hoping that Diallo continues his imperious form and becomes one of the best players in the club’s history.
