As of 1st January, Jonathan David (24) has been free to discuss a pre-contract agreement with another club. According to Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth, there is no shortage of interest in the Lille OSC forward.

The Canada international has been linked with a big-money move away from Lille in each of the past three summers, however, a transfer has never taken form. But with his contract up at the end of the season, he could ultimately leave on a free. It is, however, not a foregone conclusion, as David himself revealed.

“As the president (Olivier Létang) has said many times, there are talks. We are speaking but no decision has been made. We are still speaking […] the door is never closed. It’s 50/50,” David told La Voix du Nord last week.

However, interest in his services is mounting. Now able to sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club, four unnamed Premier League clubs have approached the striker’s entourage regarding a free transfer at the end of the season. Sheth adds that two Serie A clubs have also made an offer for the LOSC forward, who will not be departing the French club during the January transfer window, as confirmed by Létang.

David, fully focused on the second half of the season at Lille, will assess all of his options before making a final decision.
