We are back with another Fantasy Premier League scout report ahead of Gameweek 7 where we provide you with a list of players who we expect to do well in the upcoming gameweeks along with a differential pick to help you climb up the overall rankings.
So let’s get started!
Upcoming fixtures: Everton (A), Wolves (H), Crystal Palace (A), Aston Villa (H)
The Manchester City center-back bagged a 15 point haul against the Hornets in an 8-0 victory getting a goal and an assist in addition to the clean sheet points. He is second to Lucas Digne in terms of total attempts on goal (8) and top among all defenders for shots inside the box (8). Also, no defender has been afforded more big chances than the Argentine over the season – all these stats despite missing a game.
With City having no senior center-backs fit at the moment and with Pep having deployed the Brazilian Fernandinho in the heart of City’s defense, it’s safe to assume that the Argentine defender is very much nailed on to start every game whilst having a very budget-friendly price tag. It’s also worth mentioning that with Fernandinho partnering him, Otamendi becomes a good candidate for bonus as well as he has fewer contenders to compete with should City keep a clean sheet.
Upcoming fixtures: Southampton (H), Brighton (A), Watford (H), Liverpool (A)
VAR disallowed Serge Aurier’s goal against Leicester City but it was another impressive outing for the right-back. Only Lamela and Son created more chances than him on the day and only Harry Winks completed more passes in the final third. Since his return into the Spurs’ first team, only Alexander Arnold and Azpilicueta have created more chances than the Ivorian in the last 2 gameweeks.
Although Spurs have only 1 clean sheet this season, they rank joint best along with Manchester City for big chances conceded at home. They face Southampton and Watford at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the next three combined with an away trip to The Amex where they face The Seagulls.
Aurier, with an ownership of just 2.8%, could provide a great short term alternative for FPL Managers in the next three gameweeks and with a budget-friendly price tag combined with promising stats, he could be one to watch out for/punt on in the short term. He has also been included in our Scout report from yesterday where we highlighted a few key defenders who could make a real impression in the upcoming gameweeks.
Upcoming fixtures: Southampton (H), Brighton (A), Watford (H), Liverpool (A)
Despite a poor performance by Spurs against the Foxes, the South Korean Heung-Min Son impressed yet again, giving FPL Managers another headache of which bandwagon to jump on to with multiple options in there. The Spurs’ winger had a total of 3 attempts on goal with 1 big chance. He also created the most chances in the game, joint top with Lamela (3), earning the assist for Harry Kane’s goal.
In the last four matches, only Arsenal’s Pepe has had more attempts on goal than Son and only Raheem Sterling has had more shots inside than box. Spurs face home games against Southampton and Watford in the next three combined with an away trip to The Amex where they face The Seagulls.
Son still has ownership of just 8.6% and could prove to be a deadly differential in the upcoming weeks for FPL Managers.
Upcoming fixtures: Brighton (H), Southampton (A), Newcastle (H), Burnley (A)
Mason Mount has been enjoying life in the top flight under Lampard as the English International already has 3 goals under his belt. Chelsea’s attack continues to impress, with Lampard’s men now standing second only to Man City for the highest xG (expected goals scored) over the past four GW’s.
Mason Mount could be one of the main beneficiaries in terms of output in the coming weeks. The English International is top amongst his Chelsea team-mates in terms of chances created and over the last four-game weeks, he has averaged 1 big chance per game.
Chelsea are top of the fixture ticker for the next 6 weeks and we expect a lot of goals from the Blues as they face home games against Brighton, Newcastle, and Palace in addition to travels to Southampton, Burnley and Watford over the same period. With Mount being reasonably cheap and also being on all set-pieces for Chelsea, he could provide great value in the coming weeks.
Upcoming fixtures: Brighton (H), Southampton (A), Newcastle (H), Burnley (A)
Another Chelsea man here, who looks like a no brainer with his form and fixtures fixtures. The Englishman has seven goals in his last four games with his only blank coming against Liverpool.
Only Aguero (21), Deulofeu (17) and Firmino (15) have had more attempts on goal than Abraham (14) in the last 4 weeks. Over the same period, only Aguero has had more Big Chances than the English International. In terms of expected goals, only Aguero and Haller have had a better xG than Tammy Abraham. Even in his blank against The Reds, Tammy was top for total shots on the day (3), all of them coming from inside the box and 1 of them being a big chance.
Chelsea have amazing fixtures in the next 6 games and Abraham looks the pick of the bunch. A double up with Mount could be the way to go in the coming gameweeks.
Upcoming fixtures: Sheffield United (H), Leicester City (A), Manchester United (H), Tottenham Hotspurs (A)
Firmino netted his third goal of the season during Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Chelsea and found the target with both of his shots. Only Chris Wood and Sergio Aguero recorded more than his 2 big chances in gameweek 6.
During the last four gameweeks, only Aguero (21) and Deulofeu (17) have had more efforts on goal, with the Brazilian ranking third with 15. No Liverpool player has fired more goal attempts or found more efforts on target than the Brazilian, while his tally of 16 shots inside the box is on par with Mohamed Salah. With a total of 5 big chances created this season, he is level with his teammate TAA, and only KDB has more with 10.
The 27-year-old has averaged 7.3 points per game this season, while Salah has 8.3ppm and Mane has 7ppm. Putting this in context, Firmino is providing the best points per million value compared to his counterparts and could be a great cheap option from that Liverpool frontline to have.
Upcoming fixtures: Man United (A), Bournemouth (H), Sheffield United (A), Crystal Palace (H)
Nicolas Pepe opened his account for the season as he scored a penalty helping Arsenal come back from being 2-1 down to win 3-2 against Aston Villa. (Pepe is not on penalty duties and Aubameyang let him score for him to open his account for the season.)
Coming in at an ownership of JUST 3.5% at the time of writing, Pepe could be the missing piece in every FPL Manager’s differential puzzle. In the last 4 weeks, no midfielder has had more attempts on goal than him with the Ivorian having 17 attempts on goal with 9 of them coming from inside the box. Only Sterling, Salah and Cantwell have had a better xG in the last 4 gameweeks.
With Arsenal opting a policy of “Scoring more than our opponents, because we’re pathetic at the back” and with a favorable run of fixtures coming in for Arsenal, Pepe looks like an enticing attacking option to help FPL Manager’s climb up the rankings.
Thanks for reading and wishing you all the very best for the upcoming Gameweek.
