Marcus Thuram and Davide Frattesi were the worst offenders for Inter Milan against Fiorentina.
This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They argue, however, that it was coach Simone Inzaghi who was ultimately to blame.
Naturally, there were not many Inter players to emerge with any credit from the Stadio Artemio Franchi yesterday.
The Nerazzurri were second best in all respects to Fiorentina. There was nothing harsh or unfortunate about the 3-0 scoreline.
Therefore, the Gazzetta argues, the most blame must be laid at the feet of Inter coach Simone Inzaghi.
The Nerazzurri coach admitted after the match that it was his responsibility. He named the team, set up the tactical approach, and he got it all wrong.
But with that being said, the Gazzetta argues, there were a couple particularly egregious performances from players in an Inter shirt.
Firstly, the Gazzetta note, there was striker Marcus Thuram.
So often this season the Frenchman has been a talismanic figure in attack for the Nerazzurri.

However, yesterday Thuram cut a forlorn figure. He was not able to get on the end of any telling chances.
The Frenchman attempted to use his pace and skill to get the better of FIorentina defenders on a few occasions.
But Thuram ultimately had no real positive impact on the match.
Meanwhile, midfielder Davide Frattesi was struggling to make an impact as well.
The 25-year-old got the chance in the Inter starting eleven. Simone Inzaghi gave him the nod ahead of Nicolo Barella.
However, Frattesi’s performance was emblematic of Inter’s as a whole.
The former Sassuolo midfielder gave the ball away far too easily. Meanwhile, he was not nearly enough of a defensive presence when Inter lost possession.
Then, it was Frattesi’s lax marking which allowed Fiorentina defender Luca Ranieri to score the opener.
