Noni Madueke has shared advice Frank Lampard gave him during his time in charge of Chelsea at the end of the 2022/2023 season.

Madueke was one of several signings in a record breaking window in January 2023, with the Blues paying PSV Eindhoven £29m.

The 22-year-old took his time to find his feet in his first six months at the club, but he showed signs of improvement over the second half of last season under Mauricio Pochettino.

Madueke on Lampard advice

Madueke scored several important goals during the run in as Chelsea secured a top six finish and a return to European football.

This season the winger has improved hugely under Enzo Maresca, with the Italian labelling him as one of Chelsea’s best players.

The England international has seven goals and three assists in 22 Premier League games, with 18 of those coming as starts.

He’s certainly matured a lot as a player and his defensive work rate has improved massively, which is another reason why he’s in the team.

The Englishman is still young, with a lot of learning to do, but has all the attributes to develop into a top modern day winger.

Madueke was speaking about his journey to Chelsea in a recent interview and he shared some advice that Lampard had given him.

“Frank Lampard told me to control the small details, like the process, and don’t really worry about the end result,” he told Chelsea’s website as cited on X.com.

“If you control the day to day, eventually the results are going to come. That’s the way to actually get the results you want, instead of focusing too much on the result and not controlling what you can control. It’s good advice.”

Madueke will be hoping to return to the starting line-up on Friday night as Chelsea return to Brighton in desperate need of three points to get their season back on track.
