Frank: Where we must improve to challenge Liverpool

Brentford head coach Thomas Frank has revealed the key area where his side must improve from Tuesday night's 2-2 draw against Manchester City if the Bees are to get a result against Premier League leaders Liverpool.

Arne Slot's Reds travel to Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon (3pm kick-off GMT), having lost just one league game this season.

With the west Londoners going, in Frank's words, "toe-to-toe" with Pep Guardiola's side in midweek, the Bees boss was asked if he expected a similar match against Liverpool.

“The [City] game turned out quite open and end-to-end at times, especially with the amount of shots we created," said Frank.

“For us, the performance was so good, in that we were brave when playing out and brave with the high pressure.

"Of course, we’d like to do the same against Liverpool but it will be difficult. We need to be brave again on Saturday, but we also need to be clever to avoid too many defensive transitions."

He added: "I expect an entertaining game. I expect a game that, at times, will be end-to-end.

“It’s about how we can play to our strengths but also acknowledge and be aware of what Liverpool are very good at: they’re probably the best transition team in the world."
