Vincent Kompany is facing a full “red alert” injury crisis ahead of Bayern Munich’s Champions League showdown with Inter Milan.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They note that the Bayern coach will be missing at least six starters.
Bayern Munich and Inter Milan face off in the Champions League this month.
The first leg of the quarterfinal tie is at the Allianz Arena next Wednesday.
And the tie could be the most important couple of matches for both teams’ seasons to date. Both have clear ambitions to reach the latter stages of the Champions League.
Meanwhile, Bayern are still in their first season with Vincent Kompany.
Whilst the former Manchester City captain is a decorated veteran as a player, he is still quite inexperienced as a coach. Taking charge of Bayern was always going to be a trial by fire.
And for Kompany, the tie against Inter will not be made any easier by injuries.

In the first leg of the Inter tie, Bayern will be without four players in the backline.
Bayern goalkeeper and captain Manuel Neuer is out with an injury.
And the likes of Alphonso Davies and Dayot Upamecano have also suffered season-ending injuries.
As if those were not significant enough disruptions in defense, summer signing Hiroki Ito will also be unavailable.
That means that the likes of Kim Min-Jae and Raphael Guerereiro will certainly have to play. Even if they are not at their best physically.
Then, there are also a couple other absences elsewhere on the pitch for Kompany to work around.
In attack, Bayern will be without France international winger Kingsley Coman. That is due to inflammation in the former Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain player’s foot.
And young midfielder Aleksandar Pavlovic, a standout earlier in the season, will be absent as he recovers from mononucleosis.
