Gabriel Martinelli scored his milestone 50th Arsenal goal over the weekend as the Gunners eased to victory over Ipswich Town in the Premier League.
The 23-year-old got number 49 against Real Madrid in the Bernabeu on Wednesday night, helping to put the icing on a famous Arsenal win in the Champions League quarter-final tie.
The half century was completed at Portman Road on Sunday afternoon, Arsenal's second goal of what turned into a 4-0 thrashing that at least ensured Liverpool will have to wait another week to be mathematically crowned England’s new champions.
Remarkably, Arsenal have still never lost a game in which Martinelli has scored. Ipswich, of course, was never likely to be a fixture to challenge that, but Real Madrid certainly was.
Martinelli has found the net in 44 different games for Arsenal since joining the club from barely known Brazilian club Ituano in the summer of 2019. The Gunners have won 37 and drawn seven.
Games scored in without losing is a club record the 23-year-old already holds by some distance. The next on the list, shared by Arsenal to celebrate Martinelli's feat, is Kai Havertz on 28.
Fellow current player Leandro Trossard, who also netted (twice) against Ipswich is on 26. He is level with Lee Dixon, Perry Groves and Ray Parlour. Dixon went through 14 years at Arsenal without losing a game in which he’d scored. Although a full-back and therefore scoring less often, never did he end up on the losing side when scoring his 27 Gunners goals.
When it comes to Havertz, Arsenal have won all but two of the 28 games in which Havertz has scored since his 2023 arrival from Chelsea, drawing the other two.
