It is no surprise that the Italian media has taken aim at AC Milan after their abject performance during last night’s 0-0 draw against Genoa.
In what was supposed to be a night that celebrated 125 years of history, Milan were reminded how far they have fallen as they laboured and ultimately failed to break down their opponents.
Paulo Fonseca’s comments after the game left a lot of fans bemused as he thought the team played well, while after the game there were some very strong protests on display.
Below is how the papers look this morning, with no surprise that they have gone in hard on the Rossoneri after a miserable birthday night.
La Gazzetta dello Sport: “That’s enough. Not quite a party: Milan questioned. Draw with Genoa: jeers at San Siro. Rossoneri eighth, -14. Fonseca: ‘Only the goal was missing’.”
Corriere dello Sport: “Only jeers for Milan. Rossoneri held by Genoa (0-0). Fonseca defends himself: ‘Lacking in quality, I understand the disappointment’. Theo, Calabria and Tomori left out. Room for Jimenez, Liberali and Camarda.”
QS: “Party ruined. Milan dry against Genoa. Boos for Ibra and the team.”
