West Ham United secured a 2-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night to ease the pressure on under-fire boss Julen Lopetegui.

The Hammers applied a lot of pressure in the first half, but they failed to create many chances, and the scores remained 0-0 until the break.

The game began to open up in the second half, and West Ham finally broke the deadlock through Tomas Soucek’s brilliant header.

Matt Doherty restored parity from Rayan Ait-Nouri’s cross for the visitors, but the Hammers had the last laugh after Jarrod Bowen’s decisive second goal.

The national press was hugely impressed with the England international. The Daily Mirror handed him an 8/10 rating, saying he produced the ‘game’s solitary moment of top quality’.

Bowen also set up Soucek to score West Ham’s first goal in the 54th minute.

The 27-year-old had 58 touches in the game, completing 23 of his 28 passes. He registered two tackles, an interception and three key passes.

The forward completed all of his long balls and won seven of his 14 ground duels.

Bowen has been one of the most important players for West Ham, and it is crucial that he keeps performing well.

The winger has started all 15 Premier League matches this season, bagging four goals and four assists.

The Hammers’ fans will hope he carries his good form into their next match against Bournemouth on Monday.
