Liverpool delivered a commanding performance in London, exploiting Tottenham’s defensive vulnerabilities to secure all three points. Spurs, potent in attack but frail at the back, struggled to contain the visitors, especially with their injury-ridden defence.
The opener came courtesy of a sublime Luis Díaz header, but the real magic lay in Trent Alexander-Arnold’s assist. The England international showcased his renowned passing prowess, delivering a precise, whipped cross that allowed Díaz to nod the ball into the net. It was a moment of class that turned heads, including those of pundits.
Manchester United legend and Sky Sports analyst Gary Neville couldn’t help but lavish praise on Trent. Speaking to The Mail, Neville said:
“The cross is something else. It’s precision, there are very very few players in Premier League history who I have seen that can land it on a sixpence like that with that level of speed, accuracy, whip, it’s absolutely perfect.”
“Kevin De Bruyne, Beckham, Trent, Gerrard maybe in his prime. The pace is on the ball and he does really well, throws his neck back to put a bit of extra power on it past Forster.”
Díaz, in jubilant celebration, shined Trent’s boots—a playful nod to the quality of the assist. Later, Mohamed Salah sealed the night with his brilliance. The Egyptian forward bagged a brace, extending his lead as the Premier League’s top scorer this season, and assisted Díaz for Liverpool’s final goal.
With this victory, Liverpool look ahead to their Boxing Day clash against Leicester City at Anfield. Arne Slot’s side will undoubtedly be heavy favourites against a Foxes outfit battling relegation.
