Christmas is a time for giving, and spirits were high at Milanello as the players engaged in ‘Secret Santa’, continuing the tradition.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport reveal, the tradition actually only started last year but it is effectively a present lottery. It involved not only the team and the technical staff, but also the warehouse workers and medical staff.

About 20 days ago, a draw was held to decide who would give a gift to whom, and the time to open the presents finally arrived. Obviously, given the heterogeneity of the participants, the agreement was to only give clever gifts rather than anything too luxurious.

For example, the doctor drew Mike Maignan and – knowing his great passion for sneakers – he thought it would be a good idea to give him a book about the shoes so loved by the French goalkeeper. In the package, Paulo Fonseca found some bottles of wine from a particular vintage, 1973, his birth date.

The coach gave a warehouse worker a weekend in Portugal, to introduce him to his country. There was a nice surprise for Christian Pulisic, who received a pair of Captain America Puma shoes (technical sponsor of the Rossoneri).

There were golf balls for Alvaro Morata, a keen golfer. Matteo Gabbia reserved a special gift for all the staff to celebrate his renewal. It’s the thought that counts.
