Alex Jimenez has left an impression in his first couple of Serie A starts, and AC Milan are looking to renegotiate the terms of the deal with Real Madrid.
As La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) report this morning, Jimenez was once again one of Milan’s best players during the win over Verona on Friday, as he was in his debut with the first team against Genoa.
The Spaniard is perhaps the brightest spot in a troubled period for the Rossoneri. After an excellent start to the season with Milan Futuro, which allowed him to gain experience in the professional field and show he was ready, he has kept the momentum going.
Jimenez has been in Italy since the summer of 2023, when he arrived on loan from Real Madrid after being spotted by Geoffrey Moncada and the scouting department. He was bought for €5m, signing with Milan until 30 June 2028.
However, Los Blancos didn’t want to completely lose control of the player and they have a buy-back which can be triggered next summer for €9m or the summer after that (2026) for €12m. Therefore, they have quite a big say in his future.
Inside the offices of Casa Milan, however, they are confident that the terms can be renegotiated thanks to the excellent relations with Real Madrid. It is a bit like what happened in the past with Brahim Diaz, who returned to Spain, but after three seasons with the Rossoneri.
It won’t be easy to convince Real Madrid to let go of Jimenez, with their current right-back options Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez well over 30 and less depth on the left. Milan will try though, because they believe in the player.
