Christian Pulisic was decisive for AC Milan last night as he won the penalty that sparked the turnaround against Juventus. As highlighted by a newspaper, however, the Rossoneri want him in even better form against Inter.
As highlighted by Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo below), Pulisic managed to recover from his injury struggles to play from start in Sergio Conceicao’s first game. He clearly wasn’t in the best condition, lacking the extra push to get past his opponents, but he still managed to be decisive.
The goal from the spot, a penalty he won himself, sent him to the top of Milan’s internal top goalscorer list for the season. He’s now on nine goals, the same amount as Tijjani Reijnders, and it’s clear that his return for the Supercoppa Italiana was essentially (especially with Rafael Leao out).
Pulisic and his teammates will now be looking to lift a trophy on Monday, which would be the American’s first with the club. Defeating Inter won’t be easy, though, and the No.11 in slightly better form – as well as condition – would certainly help the Rossoneri.
It doesn’t look like Rafael Leao will make it back in time, or least he won’t be able to play from the first minute. Reports suggest that he could be subbed on in the second half, but the main attacking responsibility will be placed on Pulisic’s shoulders.
