It’s fair to say Gerard Piqué was not pleased with his yellow card in Barcelona’s 3-0 win against Leganés on Saturday.
The caution, for a foul on Nordim Amrabat in the first half, means that the defender will now miss Barça’s crucial match against Valencia this coming weekend due to accumulation of yellows.
Piqué must have been very aware of this fact, as he furiously protested the decision.
His remonstrations carried on throughout the match and even after the final whistle.
The video above shows a translated version of Piqué’s comments to the referee, which were picked up by Spanish television.
The Spain international addresses the referee by his name and accuses him of premeditating the caution.
Piqué is never far from the action and it all makes for fascinating viewing.
Meanwhile Barça have officially appealed Piqué’s yellow, along with one received by Luis Suárez in the same game. They are yet to hear back but yellow cards are rarely overturned retrospectively, except in cases of mistaken identity.
