Montilivi closes today a year 2024 that we will remember forever. The year of the first qualification for European competition and the debut in the Champions League, which ends with the visit to the stadium of a Valladolid against which the team will try to recover its best version to get the three points. The Castilians have not started the season well, and are nineteenth in the standings with twelve points. In fact, they had only been able to win one of the last eighteen, but last weekend they managed to win at home against Valencia (1-0). Away records are not good at all, with only one win and eight defeats.
At the helm of the team for the last two matchdays has been a legend of the Club, Álvaro Rubio. The midfielder, who played for ten seasons in Valladolid until retiring in 2026, took the reins of the reserve team last season and this year has made the leap to the first team after the dismissal of Pezzolano. Raúl Moro is the team's top scorer with three goals, followed by Mamadou Sylla, Anuar and Amallatah with two. Rubio's team is by far the highest scorer in the category (34), and also the second lowest scorer behind only Getafe (12).
The record between the two teams is fairly even, with seven wins for Girona, four draws and eight for Valladolid. In their last visit to Montilivi, two seasons ago, the three points stayed at home thanks to two goals from Reinier and Oriol Romeu (2-1), and in fact Girona have always scored at the stadium when the next rival visits. In total, seven wins and two draws, completely the reverse of the situation at the José Zorrilla. Míchel's team will try to extend the streak to go into the Christmas holidays with a good feeling.
