Graham Potter could be a Premier League manager again by the end of the week after he was reportedly offered a job.
The 49-year-old has been out of work since April 2023 when he was sacked by Chelsea after losing 11 of his 31 games in charge of the side, who were 11th in the table at the time.
Potter has been linked with the Manchester United and England jobs over the past year but was overlooked for both positions as Erik ten Hag remained at Old Trafford before being later replaced by Ruben Amorim, while the FA eventually hired Thomas Tuchel.
His extended hiatus may be about to come to an end as two top-flight clubs are reportedly interested in appointing the former Brighton and Swansea City manager this week.
West Ham United have “offered” Potter the head coach role after “deciding” to sack Julen Lopetegui, according to The Times. They are expected to fire the Spaniard before their next Premier League match, at home against Fulham next Tuesday.
The Hammers have “promised” Potter transfer funds to make new signings in the January window, while the Solihull native has “asked for a day” to consider the proposal.
The club have previously “admired” Gary O’Neil, who is available following his sacking by Wolves last month, and Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick has also been considered.
Meanwhile, Everton “retain an interest” in Potter should they decide to get rid of Sean Dyche, who has overseen just one win in their last 11 league games.
Speaking about on Monday Night Football, Jamie Carragher told Sky Sports: “If he can unlock some of the attacking talents West Ham have got, it’s a good move for both if the deal comes off.”
