It was inevitable that Mallorca sold a goalkeeper this summer, given that they have agree high-quality options in their squad: Predrag Rajkovic, Dominik Greif and Leo Roman. The former was the one selected for a departure, and after weeks of uncertainty, he will now almost certainly be leaving.
Mallorca hoped that Rajkovic’s strong performances for Serbia at Euro 2024 would drum up interest in his services. It didn’t until recently, when Al-Ittihad identified him as an alternative to their other ‘keeper targets, including Manchester City’s Ederson and Diogo Costa of Porto. Having had little hope of signing either player, the Saudi Pro League side have advanced on Rajkovic.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that an agreement between Mallorca and Al-Ittihad is imminent. Once it comes, a deal will be given the green light – the 28-year-old has already agreed personal terms.
Marca say that an upfront fee of €8m will be paid for Rajkovic, with the deal reaching €10m after add-ons. It’s valuable money for Mallorca, as they aim to improve Jagoba Arrasate’s squad ahead of the new season kicking off in just over two weeks’ time.
