Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has on Wednesday provided updates on the wellbeing of two members of his midfield ranks.

The pair in question? Dani Olmo, and Gavi.

Attacking midfielder Olmo has of course been sidelined for several weeks now, owing to a calf injury suffered during Barca’s 1-1 La Liga draw with Getafe.

Fellow countryman Gavi, meanwhile, was forced into a premature departure from the Blaugrana’s hard-fought victory over Deportivo Alavés at the weekend.

This came after the youngster was involved in a nasty clash of heads.

Speaking to the media in his pre-match press conference ahead of Barcelona’s Copa del Rey quarter-final clash with Valencia on Thursday night, the subject of the status of his engine room pair was in turn put to Hansi Flick.

And the German went on to explain:

“We’ll see about Dani Olmo… maybe he’ll get some minutes in the second half. Gavi is not an option for tomorrow, that’s what the protocol says. The blow he received was hard.”
