With the January transfer window now open transfer stories are emerging thick and fast. One of the first to emerge is regarding the future of Manchester City captain Kyle Walker. A new report indicates that several Saudi Pro League clubs have an interest in signing Manchester City’s captain this month. But has the likelihood of Walker leaving City now increased? That remains to be seen.

Mark Brus has reported for CaughtOffside that Al Nassr, Al Ahli, and Al Ittihad all have an interest in signing Kyle Walker this month. Furthermore, Brus also reports that Manchester City could be open to selling Walker this month. That is entirely dependent on City finding a replacement Brus adds. Lastly, Brus reports that a few of between €12-15 million could see Manchester City’s captain leave if City decide to sell him this month.

There is no doubt that Kyle Walker is coming to the end of his time at Manchester City. Watching him play this season it is obvious that his physical gifts have begun to diminish. That is part and parcel of a player getting on in years, but in Walker’s case, it has stood out. With Walker’s pace and physical attributes beginning to decline it has cost him this season. Based on that alone, it is beginning to appear that his time is coming to an end at Manchester City.

But could it come this month? For me, that would be entirely dependent on the world champions signing a right-back this month. It’s hard to see Manchester City weakening an already thin squad by selling Walker without having a replacement signed. That move alone will likely dictate whether or not City sell Walker in January.

The situation surrounding Kyle Walker is one of many stories to watch that surround Manchester City. It is clear that several Saudi Pro League clubs have an interest in signing Manchester City’s captain. But whether or not he does leave the world champions this month does seem to hinge on who City sign this month.
