FC Barcelona were set to face Osasuna in an exciting La Liga encounter last night, but the match was postponed due to a tragic event. One of the doctors of the Blaugrana team, Dr. Carles Minarro Garcia, sadly passed away in the afternoon at the team’s hotel.
As a result of this postponement, this match will now be played at a later date, and it remains to be seen which date will be decided by La Liga and RFEF, even though these bodies have showcased their intention to find a suitable date as soon as possible.
However, as Mundo Deportivo has noted, their task will be very difficult as the calendar of the two teams, especially that of Barcelona, barely leaves any dates free to schedule this game.
The Catalans are still alive in all three competitions, i.e., La Liga, Copa del Rey, and the UEFA Champions League, and their progression in these competitions will determine the free spots they will have for this game.
Furthermore, the international break that will occupy a significant part of this month of March will also make it difficult for the authorities to find a suitable date for the rescheduling of this game.
If Barcelona are unable to qualify for the final of the Copa del Rey, which is scheduled for 26th April, the weekend of 26-27 April will be one of the available spots. The Blaugranes are currently tied 4-4 on aggregate with Atletico Madrid in the semi-final, the second leg of which is scheduled for 2nd April.
Similarly, if the Catalans are eliminated from the UCL, the most feasible time for this postponed game would be in the week of 19-25 May, when there is no midweek match ahead of the 38th matchday of La Liga on 25th May.
Thus, it remains to be seen when this game between FC Barcelona and Osasuna will be scheduled, but the authorities have a hard task on their hands to find a suitable spot.
