Manchester United have joined Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in gauging Bryan Mbeumo’s availability.

It’s no surprise to see the prolific Brentford talisman garnering interest from the typical ‘big six’ clubs after he has enjoyed a scintillating start to the campaign. In fact, he’s been so outstanding that the Bees were barely impacted by Ivan Toney’s departure to Saudi Arabia at the beginning of the term.

In his 21 appearances thus far, Mbeumo has notched 13 goals and three assists. Currently, he sits fifth-placed behind Erling Haaland in the Golden Boot race and is tied with Nottingham Forest’s in-form frontman Chris Wood.

Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport has confirmed that the Cameroon international now has admirers in the top division. However, Thomas Frank, who recently hailed Mbeumo as being ‘unplayable’ at times, has assured Brentford fans that his star man will be seeing out the season in West London.

Mbeumo isn’t short of Premier League suitors

That bodes well for United, as big-money January transfers have come few and far between in recent years. There are certainly opportunities to recuperate funds, though, with Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho being heavily linked with moves away before the February 3 deadline.

The Argentine livewire has proven to be Napoli’s first-choice winger to replace the departing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Paris Saint-Germain. They submitted a £40 million bid that was rebuffed by the Red Devils yesterday, with INEOS outlining Garnacho’s valuation around the £60m mark.

With the player himself said to be ‘keen’ on a Serie A switch, United would presumably sanction his exit if their demands were met and, in turn, begin pursuing Mbeumo, 25, as his – albeit older – replacement.

Brentford have made it clear that if the time comes when their hand is forced into selling the sought-after attacker, it’ll take a substantial proposal.
