Manchester United host Fulham on Sunday in the fifth round of the FA Cup, fresh off the back of a much needed Premier League win against Ipswich Town.

Ruben Amorim’s side have two wins in their last five games and are in pursuit of a silver lining to what has been a frankly disastrous season.

Recent form

United have two wins in their last five games, and one of those was in the FA Cup against Leicester. They will be favourites for this game, especially at Old Trafford.

Fulham are in very good form, however, with four wins in their last five games, including victories against Newcastle and Nottingham Forest.

United and Fulham faced each other only a month ago in the league, and United won that game 1-0.

What’s been said?

United boss Ruben Amorim expects Alejandro Garnacho to be involved against Fulham despite having a knock, and his questionable response to being substituted off against Ipswich. Amorim said: “He came to me, to my office. He went to the dressing room, watched the game, then went home. It is not an issue but I told him that at Manchester United, everything is an issue. At this club, perception is important. He will pay for dinner for all the team. That is it.”

Fulham manager Marco Silva on the importance of the FA Cup: “We really like the competition. It doesn’t matter against who, we have been able to be really serious with the competition. When we played against Watford and then the second game against Wigan, the players were really serious in their approach because we respect and love the competition.

“Of course, when you play against Manchester United, the noise is going to be different around the game, but this is the only difference, believe me. Our ambition in this competition is really big and we want to compete to be in the next round.”
