Leicester City supporters were already rightly disenchanted with the how badly their club has been run for around four years. Then they were relegated from the Premier League versus Liverpool on Sunday afternoon. Disaster actually struck in that way for the second time in two years. And, as a Foxes fan banner correctly criticised, at least £200 million of revenue was lost in that time.
While things couldn't be much worse for LCFC's Blue Army fan base at present, out of his depth and tone deaf team manager Ruud van Nistelrooy rubbed it in. In doing so, he rubbed the faithful completely the wrong way so to speak. So how did the former striker further upset Leicester fans after guiding them to a pathetic demotion back down to the Championship? We will also briefly offer our view on whether the ex-Manchester United man will still be on Filbert Way for the upcoming campaign.
Van Nistelrooy was the wrong appointment at King Power Stadium. Let's just agree on that for a start. Therefore, especially at this point, it would be extremely difficult to justify his continued influence on the side.
Leicester chairman Aiyawatt 'Khun Top' Srivaddhanaprabha is likely to dismiss the 48-year-old this week in my opinion. The announcement will probably be complimentary and reciprocal in nature.
As the final whistle blew at the King Power with the Reds defeating the Foxes, van Nistelrooy strode onto the pitch. He then proceeded to inexplicably and happily embrace Liverpool players and their boss Arne Slot.
