Huddersfield Townhave faced up against some of the Championship's fiercest strikers during their time in the Football League.

The likes of Troy Deeney, Billy Sharp, Callum Wilson and Chris Wood have all had relative scoring success against the Terriers in the second tier, but no one has enjoyed facing them more than former Nottingham Forest striker, Lewis Grabban.

Of his 159 goals scored across his career in the EFL, nine of which have come against Huddersfield with five different clubs, more than any other side he has faced.

Lewis Grabban's record against Huddersfield Town

Grabban would begin terrorising the Huddersfield defence during his days with Millwall, having joined the Lions from Crystal Palace in the early days of his professional career.

The striker would score on his second appearance against the Terriers, before moving to Brentford on loan before making a permanent switch to the Bees in 2011. His time at Griffin Park would prove to be his most prolific against the Yorkshire club, scoring three times against them.

Two seasons would pass before Grabban would face his favoured opposition, this time in the colours of AFC Bournemouth after completing a move from Rotherham United. He would again find the back of the net in a home win towards the end of the 2013/14 season, having fired a blank in the previous fixture that season.

Grabban would make just one appearance against the Terriers during his time with Norwich City, but would again continue to torment Huddersfield, this time scoring in a comfortable victory at Carrow Road, despite only playing 14 minutes of the contest.

He would fail to score against them in the colours of Reading, but would rediscover his goal-scoring touch against the Yorkshire club during his time with Nottingham Forest.

Grabban would play more games against Huddersfield than any other of his previous sides during his time in the East Midlands, captaining his side on three occasions and scoring three times, including a goal in their promotion campaign in which they beat the Terriers at Wembley.

Blackburn Rovers, Birmingham City, Preston North End and Ipswich Town were just some of the sides who had felt the full effect of Grabban's goal-scoring prowess, but the Terriers top the rankings of the striker's favourtie opposition, netting nine times in 16 appearances against them.

Huddersfield Town had the last laugh despite Grabban's record

In spite of Grabban's impressive goal-scoring record against Huddersfield, it was the Terriers who had the best of the encounters with Grabban over the years.

Across the Championship and League One, the 36-year-old managed six wins in his 16 appearances against them, with the Yorkshire club winning nine of their encounters with the striker, playing out just one draw in a 4-4 draw against Brentford in the 2010/11 season, in which he scored a brace.

The Terriers' most memorable triumph over their arch nemesis would come during the 2016/17 Championship play-off final, with Grabban playing 74 minutes but failing to find the back of the net. His subsequent substitution saw the game go to penalties, with David Wagner's side securing a return to the top flight for the first time since 1972.

Grabban would, of course, get his revenge five seasons later as Nottingham Forest beat the Terriers under the Wembley arch thanks to Levi Colwill's own-goal.

The 36-year-old hung up his boots following his move to Al-Hilal, and Huddersfield fans will be happier than most that they won't be facing up against the striker in the future.
