Manchester United players were reportedly given an old-fashioned training ground scolding by a ‘fuming Ruben Amorim.
The manager obviously didn’t take the beating at the hands of Newcastle United lightly, especially with a decisive second leg against Lyon coming up on Thursday.
The 40-year-old dropped Andre Onana following his nightmarish outing in France, but it didn’t exactly pay dividends, as the Red Devils were once more in disarray. The Magpies dominated the action from start to finish, pouncing on a series of blunders to prevail by four goals to one.
So according to Man Utd insider Sully, Amorim lashed out at his players in Monday’s training, giving them absolutely no room for a breather.
The Portuguese boss, who appeared to be furious with the weekend result and weak display, gave his players a ‘bullocking’ and no one dared raise their voice in objection.
“Ruben Amorim was fuming this morning and rightfully so,” posted the journalist on his X account.
“Meet and greet with kids cancelled, emergency first team meeting, players getting a huge bollocking. No one dared to speak. The Message was clear. You have until the end of the season to fix up or you’re out!”

Amorim only joined the club in the middle of the season, so he’s being forced to work with a squad largely assembled by his predecessor Erik ten Hag over the last three summer transfer campaigns. The only additions who arrived under the Portuguese’s watch were January signings Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven.
Therefore, the former Sporting CP coach has been taking this campaign as an opportunity to find out who among the current crop can fit into his 3-4-2-1 tactical system.
The management obviously lacks the resources to pull off a major summer overhaul, especially if they fail to qualify for the Champions League. Nevertheless, they can still offload several players, especially those who prove completely inapt to the new formation, or simply lack the determination to adapt.
